LEAD ME TO THE ROCK
“Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Ps. 61:1-2
David started his prayers by asking for heaven’s audience. “Hear
Attend to my prayer.” He understood that if God did not hear his prayer, there was no way he could get the help he needed. David was a great man of war and could literally achieve whatever he wanted but there came a time in his life when he desperately needed the Lord to be the one leading the way. You can achieve your own desires without God but you cannot do His will without Him.
“Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” He was clear about his destination in his prayer; it was the rock. He realised that the Lord is the high and lofty One, the One who is strong and mighty, the One who is mighty in battle so he specifically asked to be led by God to a place out of his own reach; a place where only God can take him.
The rock is a place of refuge, a place of safety, a place of provision. When the Lord leads you to the place of refuge, you will find rest for your soul, when He leads you to the place of safety, your peace of mind is guaranteed, when He leads you to the place of provision, your needs are taken care of.
Like David, ask the Lord today to lead you to the rock and you will find the fulfilment in Him. God bless you.
